Miitary Locations from the CPLIST

The Command Post listing (CPLIST) was created by the Army Agent Orange Task Force to support research and resolution of veteran claims.1 It is a list of 11,068 locations and the dates drawn from Division Level records. It was compiled from exhaustive review of various historical military records.

We have organized the original CPLIST into an alphabetical list for easy web access. Because the Agent Orange Task Force compiled the list from a variety of records, many of the command posts have several recorded locations. This reflects the fact that military units would have been stationed in neighboring spots in the same compound post, just as people who live in a small neighborhood live at different addresses. Each location will have its own UTM and dates of occupation associated with it. The Type field that accompanies each location gives the an indication of the location's purpose and function. Fields with a "-" are records for which no location type is listed. If a single UTM was recorded as more than one type of location, multiple types are displayed.

The dates listed alongside the locations represent the dates that were reported in the military documents and thus do not necessarily mean that units were not assigned to that command post for other periods of time -- just that the report that was reviewed only covered the dates listed.

The exposure opportunity information provided for each location describe the location's exposure to chemical herbicides over the course of the Vietnam War. "Hits" represent exposure to an herbicide spray mission at the specified distance (0.5, 1, 2 or 5 km); the "Exposure Score" is a more complex and comprehensive representation of exposure (for technical details on this measure, click here).
